Alice Krekt to hydrogen industry association

Alice Krekt is making the move from Deltalinqs to the new industry association for the Dutch hydrogen sector. She will start there as Director on 1 April next.

Krekt has been Programme Director at Deltalinqs’ Climate Program for seven years. She chairs the Clustertafel Rotterdam-Moerdijk, the Versnellingshuis Energietransitie Haven Industrieel Complex Rotterdam and the Fieldlab Industrial Electrification.

Building on

Krekt will ‘furnish and shape’ the new industry association for the Dutch hydrogen sector; she will hire staff and set priorities. The association will build on the work of the H2-Platform, which is ceasing to exist. It is an initiative of a consortium of companies, active in the production, import, transport and deployment of hydrogen. These are Air Liquide, Air Products, BP, Eneco, Engie, HyCC, Ørsted, RWE, Shell, Tata Steel, Vattenfall and Yara. Other companies are also expected to join.

Interlocutor

Statutory incorporation is planned ‘soon’. The industry association will consist of an office with a team of staff and will become the interlocutor for ministries, administrators and other organisations around hydrogen on behalf of the industry. The new association will focus on Dutch and European policy. Besides thinking along with policy-making, the association will focus on “opportunity utilisation, knowledge building and exchange and making agreements through covenants on, for example, safety in various sectors”.

‘A lot is needed’

“Our country is the second hydrogen producer in Europe. Everyone talks about using hydrogen as an indispensable route to make the Netherlands more sustainable and there are many initiatives. But a lot is still needed for realisation and sustainable production is still in its infancy. I am happy to put my shoulders to the wheel together with the companies and government,” says Krekt.
