English translation ->

(Foto: Danny Cornelissen)

Adaptive simulation model for Rotterdam energy transition

A consortium is working on the development of an adaptive simulation model, which should clarify how investments in the energy transition can work out. This will provide insight into the future resilience of investments.

Recently, the participants in the consortium signed the agreement to the project, which will run for ten months. The participants are: the Port of Rotterdam Authority, the municipality of Rotterdam, SmartPort, Tennet, Gasunie, Stedin, the province of Zuid-Holland, TU Delft, Siemens Nederland, Quintel Intelligence and TNO.

Adaptive simulation model

In order to arrive at future-proof plans for the future, it is necessary to look at the various energy infrastructures in conjunction, is the starting point behind the project. An adaptive simulation model will be created to analyze the performance of investment plans for a large number of future scenarios. This is called ‘stress testing’, which provides insight into how investment plans can work out in ten or thirty years’ time.

Public

The project is intended to deliver the integrated energy system for the coming decades, and is encapsulated in a computer model. All instruments, models and results produced by Gridmaster will be made public, the consortium promises.
