De gemeente Rotterdam zoekt CCU-start-ups die hun techniek voor het benutten van afgevangen CO2 in de praktijk willen toepassen. Zij maken daarbij kans op verschillende voordelen.

Onder de naam ‘CCU-Challenge’ vraagt de gemeente aan start-ups en scale-ups om zich te melden. ‘CCU’ staat voor ‘carbon capture utilisation’. Zij zoekt specifiek jonge bedrijven die CO2 op een nuttige manier kan gebruiken. Hierbij wordt gedacht aan drie richtingen. Ten eerste het omzetten van CO2 in mineralen. Ten tweede het converteren van CO2 in brandstoffen en chemicaliën en ten derde het benutten van CO2 als grondstof voor alternatieve proteïnen voor de voedingsmiddelenindustrie.

CCU-start-ups

Deelnemende start-ups maken kans om met hun vinding mee te doen aan een pilot of demonstratie bij een groot bedrijf. Ook verkrijgen zij toegang tot CO2- en waterstofinfrastructuur en fieldlabs voor het testen en opschalen van hun technologieën. Verder kunnen er investeringsmogelijkheden ontstaan en hebben deze bedrijven de mogelijkheid om hun netwerk uit te breiden.

Start-ups en scale-ups die interesse hebben, kunnen zich voor 25 november a.s. opgeven.

Municipality of Rotterdam seeks CCU start-ups

The municipality of Rotterdam is looking for CCU start-ups that want to use their technique for utilising captured CO2 into practice. In doing so, they stand a chance of winning various benefits.

Under the name ‘CCU-Challenge‘, the municipality is asking start-ups and scale-ups to apply. ‘CCU’ stands for ‘carbon capture utilisation’. It is specifically looking for young companies that can use CO2 in a useful way. Three directions are being considered. First, converting CO2 into minerals. Second, converting CO2 into fuels and chemicals, and third, utilising CO2 as a raw material for alternative proteins for the food industry.

Network expansion

Participating start-ups have a chance to participate with their invention in a pilot or demonstration at a large company. They also gain access to CO2 and hydrogen infrastructure and field labs to test and scale up their technologies. Furthermore, investment opportunities can arise and these companies have the opportunity to expand their network.
Start-ups and scale-ups interested can apply by 25 November next.
