De TTR terminal van Vopak in Rotterdam krijgt een upgrade voor de opslag van chemische producten. Vopak kiest voor een gesloten systeem.

Aan De Bruin Piping & Construction (BPC) heeft Vopak de opdracht gegund voor het upgraden van de TTR terminal aan de Torontostraat in Rotterdam. Onderdeel van het contract is het plaatsen van innovatieve kleppen. Die zijn geschikt voor ‘pigs’, die leidingen van binnen reinigen zonder dat deze hoeven te worden geopend. Ook stellen deze kleppen Vopak in staat om product in verschillende richtingen te verpompen.

Gesloten systeem

Daarmee kiest Vopak voor een gesloten systeem. “Een gesloten systeem voorkomt emissies en risico’s van blootstelling. Dit zal zowel onze service aan klanten als onze prestaties op het gebied van duurzaamheid verbeteren”, aldus het opslagbedrijf in een verklaring op LinkedIn. 

89 opslagtanks

De TTR terminal van Vopak bestaat uit 89 opslagtanks met een totale opslagcapaciteit van ruim 326.000 kubieke meter. Er worden biobrandstoffen, chemische producten en aardolieproducten opgeslagen.

Vopak’s TTR terminal in Rotterdam is being upgraded for the storage of chemical products. Vopak has opted for a closed system.

Vopak has awarded the contract for the upgrade of the TTR terminal to De Bruin Piping & Construction (BPC). Part of the contract is the installation of innovative valves. These are suitable for ‘pigs’, which clean the pipes from the inside, without having to open them. These valves also enable Vopak to pump product in different directions.

Closed system

With this, Vopak opts for a closed system. “A closed system prevents emissions and risks of exposure. This will improve both our service to customers and our performance in the area of sustainability”, the storage company said in a statement on LinkedIn.

Vopak’s TTR terminal consists of 89 storage tanks with a total storage capacity of over 326,000 cubic meters. It stores biofuels, chemicals and petroleum products.
