Op 12 juli 2021 is Stijn van Els officieel benoemd tot honorair consul-generaal voor Duitsland in Rotterdam. Duitsland heeft in totaal 5 honoraire consuls in Nederland. Stijn van Els behartigt de belangen van de Duitse staat in de regio Rotterdam. Primair richt zijn taak zich op het behartigen van de Duitse belangen op het gebied van economische diplomatie. Daarnaast voert hij verschillende representatieve taken uit. Zo vertegenwoordigt hij Duitsland herdenkingsevenementen, culturele evenementen of netwerkbijeenkomsten.

Loopbaan Van Els

Stijn van Els heeft ruim 30 jaar bij Shell gewerkt in verschillende functies. Zo was hij onder andere CEO en landvoorzitter van Shell in Duitsland en heeft hij belangrijke werkzaamheden op het gebied van energietransitie in Duitsland geleid.

Na zo’n 6 jaar in Duitsland te hebben gewoond en gewerkt is Van Els sinds 2019 terug verhuisd naar Nederland en werkzaam bij Havenbedrijf Rotterdam als director Commercial, waarbij hij verantwoordelijk is voor de realisatie van belangrijke energietransitie en andere complexe trajecten.

Van Els is naast voorzitter van de raad van toezicht van tankopslagbedrijf EVOS en voorzitter van de Raad van Toezicht van IDA foundation, ook Commissaris bij TenneT, de beheerder van de hoogspanningsnetten door heel Nederland en het grootste deel van Duitsland.

On 12 July 2021, Stijn van Els will be officially appointed Honorary Consul General for Germany in Rotterdam. Career Van Els

After living and working in Germany for some 6 years, Van Els has moved back to the Netherlands since 2019 and works at the Port of Rotterdam Authority as Director Commercial, where he is responsible for the realisation of important energy transition and other complex projects.

Van Els is not only chairman of the supervisory board of tank storage company EVOS and chairman of the supervisory board of IDA foundation, he is also a supervisory director of TenneT, the operator of the high-voltage grids throughout the Netherlands and most of Germany.
