Marcor is going to expand the Steinweg Hartel Terminal on the Maasvlakte with storage facilities for dry bulk. At the moment, the terminal handles break bulk.

The floating terminal on the Maasvlakte is operated by Steinweg, Marcor‘s parent company. In time, there will be a switch from the handling of breakbulk to dry bulk. Marcor will build on-shore warehouses for this purpose and further develop the existing covered warehouse of 28,000 square metres.

Increasing demand

The dry bulk terminal must be completed by the end of 2023. Agribulk, minerals and biomass products can then be stored there. The terminal is 13 hectares in size and has 600 metres of quay and a depth of 16 metres. According to Marcos, it will be able to handle ‘a wide range of vessel types’. The company says its plans are a response to the increasing demand for covered storage capacity. A final investment decision will be taken by the end of this year.
